The Village of Pingree Grove, Illinois (population 2,650 --2006 Special Census), a rapidly developing community located in Kane County, 42 miles west of downtown Chicago, is seeking a full-time Manager to lead the Village organization. Predominately a residential community, the Village increased from 124 residents in 2000 to its present population. The Village estimates the population growing to 12,000 to 16,000 residents in the next ten years. In addition to the completion of annexations and build out of residential subdivisions, the Village looks to develop a downtown to include commercial and traditional points of interest such as a Library and Post Office. The Village Manager works closely with the Village President, Board of Trustees, Village staff (three full-time and numerous part-time) to administer the Village’s services - primarily through contracts. FY2007-08 Budget is $10M. The General Fund Budget (Police, Administration, and Building) is $1.4 million. Pingree Grove operates a water system and sewerage treatment plant. Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree and three to five years of experience as a CAO in a community of comparable size or as an Assistant Manager in a larger community. Master’s Degree strongly preferred. Extensive background in municipal finances, as well as experience in planning and development is strongly desired. Candidates must have excellent leadership, management and communication skills. Manager will have regular and direct contact with residents, developers and officials; good interpersonal and negotiation skills are essential. Residency is not required.
