Director of Information Systems

Palatine, Illinois (pop. 68,000) located 28 miles from Chicago’s Loop and 14 miles from O’Hare Airport is seeking a Director of Information Systems. The Village has 365 employees and a 2007 budget of $93.1 million. The Director oversees the Information Systems Department with 8 employees, a $1.07 million budget, and reports directly to the Village Manager. The Department supports data applications, public safety systems, networks and IT infrastructure, GIS, and telephone systems. The Director is responsible for all aspects of the Village’s use of information technology. The Director provides leadership in using technology to improve organizational performance and service to the public. This requires working with department staffs to identify needs and successfully implement the resulting projects. Upcoming projects will include development of a strategic plan for the IS Department and the implementation of new Village-wide ERP. The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in related field, plus significant and progressively responsible experience in the management of information technology in the public or private sector. Candidates will be skilled at managing complex technology projects and ideally will have experience with ERP systems, institutional networks, and wireless technology.
