Village Manager

Orland Park, IL (population 60,000). Dynamic, progressive, growing community seeks experienced, proactive and collaborative professional to lead its organization consisting of 290 full time and 350 part-time employees. Orland Park is located 30 miles southwest of downtown Chicago and has a unique blend of residential and business communities in the midst of more than 800 acres of parks and open lands spread out over 21 square miles. The annual budget is $130 million of which $30 million is sales tax revenue generated from regional mall and vibrant commercial areas. The community is undergoing significant residential and commercial development and redevelopment along with implementing large infrastructure projects. The Village Manager reports to the Village President (Mayor) and six member of the Board of Trustees each of whom is elected at large for a four year term. Three Village Managers have served Orland Park since 1990. The Village is seeking candidates with a record of significant accomplishment in a full-service, growing community. Successful candidates will be comfortable working collaboratively with elected officials, active/involved citizens, and other units of government. Bachelor’s degree in public administration, urban management, public policy, business administration, finance or related field required plus seven to ten years increasingly responsible public management experience as chief executive in similar community or Assistant/Department Head in larger community or combination of relevant experience and training. Master’s degree in Public Administration or Business Administration is highly desired. Strong general management, fiscal management, motivating leadership skills and partnership oriented attitude critical. Also, strong project planning and tracking experience, outstanding organizational skills, plus proven interpersonal communication skills and well developed writing skills required. Appointed by Mayor with consent of the Board of Trustees. Residency strongly preferred. Starting salary $ 130,000 - $150,000. Submit resume with salary history and five references by February 1, 2008.
