The Naperville Park District (population 140,000) is located primarily within the suburban community of Naperville, Illinois, 30 miles southwest of downtown Chicago in Will and DuPage Counties. A seven member elected Board of Commissioners governs the Park District. The Board is seeking a highly qualified Executive Director to lead its organization of over 100 FT employees and 1100 temporary employees. The Park District has a $22 million operating budget and a capital budget of $8 million. Numerous recreational facilities, including 74 playgrounds, 22 basketball courts, 22 soccer fields, 22 Little League fields, 27 baseball/softball fields, 4 ice rinks, 22 tennis courts, cricket court, golf courses, swimming beach, trap shooting range, band shell, within a park area of 2000+ acres constitute the physical assets. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Commissioners and is responsible for the management and operations of all departments. The Executive Director must have a proven record in the management and operation of service delivery programs. The Executive Director must possess excellent leadership and management skills, financial acumen, as well as demonstrated oral and written communication abilities. The ability to work collaboratively with citizenry, volunteers, and other local governmental units is essential. Experience with managing capital projects is desirable. A Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration or related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of ten years increasingly responsible management and operations experience. Starting Salary: $150,000 +/- DOQ, plus excellent benefits.
