Hawthorn Woods, IL (pop. 8,500) an affluent, growing community located in Lake County, Illinois, approximately 32 miles northwest of Chicago seeks experienced, progressive municipal executives as candidates to lead its organization. The Village has 28 full time employees, three part-time employees, and a $ 8.5 million budget. The Village Administrator works closely with the Mayor, an Assistant Village Administrator, Police Chief, Finance Director, and Public Works Director in the delivery of municipal services. In addition, the Village is aggressively pursuing commercial and residential growth that is consistent with the community’s character. The Administrator can expect to work closely with elected and appointed officials on the analysis of development proposals. A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration or related field is required along with 5-7 years increasingly responsible management experience. A master’s degree is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent administrative and organizations skills, a strong customer service orientation, economic development experience, and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Starting salary range is $95,000-125,000 DOQ. Residency is not required. Candidates should apply at once
