Auburn, Maine (population 23,203) City Manager. Starting salary $90,000 - $100,000, depending on qualifications. Four managers since 1978. Appointed by part-time Mayor and Council elected to two-year, coterminous terms (five wards, two at-large). $64.9 million total budget of which $33.7 million is school fund; 1,194 full-time employees. Historic, full service community in central portion of Maine. Healthy retail, commercial, and industrial business community including regional retail shopping center. Excellent cultural, recreational and educational amenities. City is seeking energetic, innovative City Manager, Assistant City Manager, or in similar executive level position. Strong emphasis on management, interpersonal, and consensus building skills. Proven track record in financial management and budgeting, economic development, business recruitment/retention, and intergovernmental relations a must.
